An identification technique is used to construct reduced-order models (ROMs) for the incompressible flow past a circular cylinder at low Reynolds numbers. The linear models are useful for stability analysis of vortex-induced vibrations.Based on such linear models, computational cost of aerodynamic loads can be reduced significantly and linear control theory can be used to design robust controllers.
