In this paper we present a state-of-the-art technology development focused on the technologies required to enable flight at ultra-small scales, biologically inspired flying vehicles. We will considered: biologically inspired flight control and navigation systems, propulsion multi-purpose structures, advanced communications and information systems, and lightweight, efficient high-density power sources.
