AN EXPLORATION OF EVOLUTION PATHS FOR AIR TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS

J.-H. Lewe¹, K. Song¹, D.N. Mavris¹; ¹Georgia Institute of Technology, United States

The air transportation network (ATN) of the U.S. has been evolved along with many time-variant endogenous and exogenous factors. This paper attempts to define and use evolution paths to concisely mimic historical variations of demands and airports over the years. Reenacting the evolution of the ATN with various paths would offer meaningful insights into the structural dynamics of the ATN.
