NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF FAN-BLADE OUT USING MESO-SCALE COMPOSITE MODELING

The use of composites in fan blade casing design offers the promise of being lightweight as well as having enhanced energy absorption, but also introduces the nonlinearities inherent to composite structures. To optimize such a structure without simplifying the mechanics, a genetic algorithm is developed and utilized.
