AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE FREESTREAM TURBULENCE UPSTREAM OF A SWEPT WING

I. Fumarola, City University London, United Kingdom

On two-dimensional aerofoils the freestream turbulence upstream the leading edge is highly amplified at the edge of the boundary layer. The phenomenon was first observed on a two-dimensional aerofoil by Piercy and Richardson and later demonstrated by Sutera on two-dimensional bodies. An experimental investigation on a 3D swept wing is reported here.
