Thermal balance is a key driver for sizing aerospace electromechanical actuators. The communication proposes a structured approach to address heat rejection and thermal balance in EMAs during the preliminary design phases through lumped parameters modelling. Focus is put on bi-directional coupling between energy losses and temperature for power drive electronics, motor and mechanical transmission.
