NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF HYDRODYNAMIC LOADINGS ON REENTRY VEHICLE DURING SPLASHDOWN

Results of numerical simulation of reentry vehicle (REV) of manned transportation spacecraft splashdown is presented. Two cases of splashdown are investigated: with turned off jet braking system and with running jet engine. Pressure distribution over REV surface, 6DOF dynamics of REV during contact with water and submerging into the water are presented. Detail analysis of a spacecraft-water interaction during splashdown is presented.
