DIRECT NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF DISTURBANCES IN A THREE-DIMENSIONAL HYPERSONIC NEAR-WALL FLOW OVER FLAT PLATE AND COMPRESSION CORNER

Propogation of 3D artificial disturbances over flat plate and 5.5 deg compression-corner at M=5.373 is simulated numerically. Navier–Stokes equations are solved by the in-house solver HSFlow. Unstable disturbances are excited relevant to the first and/or 2nd mode. The instabilities in the separation region are essentially three-dimensional. The formation of “young” turbulent wedge is shown.
