DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF HELICOPTER BLADE USING CLASS SHAPE FUNCTION BASED GEOMETRY REPRESENTATION

The twist of a helicopter blade been optimized to maximize the figure of merit and an influence on a required power is investigated. The BEM is employed to evaluate the design. The twist distribution of the helicopter blade is controlled by the CST parameterization. At the optimized case, the maximum figure of merit has 0.6684, which is 5.17 % improvement compared with the baseline.
