This paper reviews potential benefits through the implementation of time-based arrival assignments to the Tokyo International Airport. Plausible improvements are investigated to enhance the application of Dynamic Air Route Procedures (DARP) to oceanic flights. Tradeoff between fuel consumption and flight time is discussed from the viewpoint of trajectory optimization.
