EXTENDED LOCAL SCATTERING THEORY AND THE ROLE OF A SCATTER ON BOUNDARY-LAYER INSTABILITY AND ACOUSTIC RADIATION

This paper proposes a Local Scattering Theory, which is used to describe the impacts of an abrupt change (a scatter) on (1) the amplitude of the oncoming instability modes and (2) the sound wave radiated by the instability modes. Through numerical calculation, the roles of a steady local suction on the wall surface are studied.
