A STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR SOLUTION INSPIRED BY SOAP BUBBLES FRAMEWORK

R. de Moura Pinhoš, D. Soriaš, L. Dimithe Aboumouš; šSafran Aircraft Engines, France

For the design of aircraft engines in service life it is helpful, in terms of computing time reduction, to perform simulations with simplified plane cracks geometries subjected to simple loads, often polynomial. This work focuses on a realistic method of estimating the stress intensity factor based on the physics of the phenomenon. In this study, two examples of crack geometries are considered : semi-elliptical crack and quarter-elliptical crack.
