PHYSICALLY-BASED MULTIDISCIPLINARY DESIGN OPTIMIZATION FRAMEWORK COUPLING AIRFRAME AND PROPULSION

A physically-based multidisciplinary design optimization framework (MDOF) was conducted focusing on the balance of fidelity and computational cost with the aim of enabling the optimization of airframe and propulsion simultaneously. The efficiency and the effectiveness of the framework is validated by optimizing a civil aircraft at minimum gross weight.
