MISSION BASED COMPARISON OF SINGLE- AND COUNTER-ROTATING FAN DESIGNS

The aim of this study is to determine the quantitative efficiency difference between a counter rotating fan and a conventional high-BPR fan on flight mission level. Besides fuel consumption differences, the effects of weight and size are taken into account by calculating an optimized flight mission fuel burn for both concepts.
