WAKE TURBULENCE RE-CATEGORISATION ON APPROACH AND DEPARTURE FOR SAFE AND MORE EFFICIENT AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Current wake turbulence separation minima between successive arrival or departure air traffic are usually based on ICAO 3-category scheme (with specific minima for A380). Possible significant capacity benefits can be achieved from increased number of categories enabling a reduction of over-conservatism for some aircraft pairs, while maintaining an acceptable safety level
