The aerodynamic loading on supersonic wing-body configurations in experimental literature is computed by various approximate aerodynamic methods. The shortcomings of piston theory in these cases are investigated. Limitations in applying local piston theory to CFD in interfering flows are considered, and the possibility of extension to piston theory to account for interference is explored.
