AIRBORNE COLLISION AVOIDANCE CONSIDERATIONS FOR SIMULTANEOUS PARALLEL APPROACH OPERATIONS

This paper documents joint research by Boeing and DLR on nuisance TCAS (ACAS) alerts related to independent and dependent RNP approaches to closely-spaced parallel runways. The objectives were to compare and contrast analysis methodologies, make recommendations for the proposed ICAO rule changes, and suggest best practices in order to attenuate the frequency of nuisance TCAS alerts.
