APPROXIMATE THREE-DIMENSIONAL PATH GENERATION FOR UAV PATH-FOLLOWING

A three-dimensional curve fitting method is proposed for approximation of a trajectory obtained as the result of numerical optimization. A simple algorithm selects the waypoints among all the given trajectory data points, and then the data points are fitted to a three-dimensional polynomial curve in the weighted least squares sense. Generated path can be utilized for UAV path-following.
