TOWARDS A 4D TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT OF SMALL UAS OPERATING AT VERY LOW LEVEL

As the number of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operating at very low level is increasing, there is a need to build a structure to accommodate these new airspace users. Several approaches can be considered for this new ATM system, as the use of 4D contracts to manage the small UAS traffic with tubes in very dense areas, or a more tactical approach based on the aircraft self-management. Each of these concepts must be assessed with performance indicators, such as the safety or the capacity, but also the compatibility with other aircraft already operating at VLL and the ability to be resilient to reckless or malevolent flights, operating without any consideration for the operational and regulatory framework developed.
