In the paper at hand a large optimal control problem involving multiple aircraft is solved. The considered scenario describes an ATM approach to an airport in the presence of wind. Besides the state and control histories, the optimal times for deploying the flaps and the gear are determined. The solution is enabled by the use of specific constraint formulations and the exploitation of sparsity.
