D.-M. Ahn, Hanseo University, South Korea; W.-H. Kang, Yanbian University, China; S.-Y. Lee, KM Engineering, Former Head of Aircraft Sys. Int. Div. ADD, South Korea

Korea is planning to develop indigenous advanced fighter from 2015. This project is the results of incremental progress in Korean aeronautical capability build-up since 1988 when KT-1 basic trainer development started. Less than 30 years, Korea became one of leading countries in aeronautical engineering. KT-1 leads development of T-50 Supersonic Trainer and advanced. rnOf course this confidence has been accumulated from the unmanned airplane, Solge, development which started late 1970s. This program could lead to develop low speed surveillance UAV and other higher performance UAVs in the 21st century in Korea.rnThus the 25th anniversary of KT-1 first flight in 2016 can be registered as a turning event to a modern systematic and product resulted first program in the history of Korean aerospace industry. To celebrate 70th anniversary of Independence in 2015, KT-1 was selected as one of proud 70 Korean engineering products in Korean history. rn Korea will be one of dominant country in world aeronautical engineering in the future.rn
