NASA is developing the En Route Descent Advisor (EDA) as a tool for computing real-time arrival solutions in busy traffic that are fuel efficient and environmentally responsible. This paper describes the concept and design behind EDA, and progress towards developing, testing, and deploying EDA for the NextGen air-transportation system.
