This paper reports on the occurrence of systematic errors in cross-correlation based measurement techniques used for applications in aerodynamics. These errors will be analytically described and verified by a numerical simulation. Additionally, a general solution will be presented to avoid any significant bias errors in cross-correlation based measurement techniques.
