PASSIVE CONTROL OF CAVITY INSTABILITIES AND NOISE

Experiments and computations are presented for transonic, L/D=4 cavity flows. Front and rear end walls were yawed 15deg and 30deg, both parallel and staggered; 3 different saw-tooth spoilers were tested on the rectangular cavity. Cavity tones were completely eliminated with 30deg yawed walls or with the largest spoiler.
