Keywords: supersonic flow, multidisciplinary optimization, method of characteristics

Multidisciplinary design optimization of a three-dimensional supersonic biplane was conducted. The modified oblique shock wave equation, modified Method of Characteristics and reference enthalpy method evaluated aerodynamic forces, and an analytical method evaluated wing weights. High performance wings and the parameters governing the trade-off were obtained as the result of optimization.
