AERODYNAMIC EFFICIENCY STUDY UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HEAVY RAIN VIA TWO-PHASE FLOW APPROACH

This paper first review research finding of heavy rain effects on aerodynamic performance. Simulation of rain is accomplished via two-phase flow approach’s Discrete Phase Model. Degradation rate increases with rain rate, and premature stall phenomenon also reported. The quantitative information gained here will be useful to the operational airline.
