Keywords: scramjet inlet, hypersonic aerodynamics, multi-objective design optimisation

The hypersonic inlet of axisymmetric scramjets is optimized in order to prevent inlet unstarting, an issue intrinsic and critical to high compression scramjets. Two objective functions are minimized, i.e., streamwise adverse pressure gradient and leading-edge stagnation temperature, by using a state-of-the-art CFD / MDO approach based on surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms.
