This paper describes a study of the conceptual design of a range of conventional and unconventional commercial aircraft, which were optimised for medium and long design ranges and payloads of 270 passengers. Comparisons are made of aircraft dimensions, masses, fuel burn, noise, acquisition and direct operating costs.
