A mutating swarm algorithm is applied in sequence for efficient airfoil design at cruise and approach conditions. The airfoil is aerodynamically optimized at transonic cruise conditions. At approach, the high lift devices are optimally deployed to address environmental noise issues. The optimizer is capable of adapting to disparate design objectives.
