In this paper the alteration of the natural frequency of composite plates using embedded NiTinol-based shape memory alloy wires will be presented. The effect of recovery stresses acting in wires due to transformation and the subsequent effect on stiffness of the plate, and hence its natural frequencies, will be investigated.
