The debate on global warming and the fact of expiring fossil fuel resources intensifies the requirements for future aviation. This contribution shows significant CO2 emission reduction potentials based on multidisciplinary optimisation of the complete air transport system including engine, airframe and flight mission. Modelling methodology and simulation results are presented.
