A tactical conflict detection and resolution system is being developed to backup a longer-range strategic system and handle any imminent conflicts left unresolved. It generates simple resolution maneuvers such as heading or altitude changes. The algorithms and logic for computing the vertical maneuvers were tested on archived data from over 100 actual operational errors.
