An aero-structural MDO is used to design a tubular spar of a conceptual aircraft. This spar works as the structure and the fuel tank (spar-tank). The aim is to optimize the aerodynamic of the wing, minimize its structural weight and maximize the fuel volume, considering four basic flight conditions.
