Keywords: milling, high performance cutting, aluminum, part distortion, residual stress

High feeds and high cutting speeds used while machining aluminum exert mechanical or thermal loads on the workpiece material, leading to residual stresses in the subsurface level. This paper presents an overview of the relationship between cutting parameters and residual stresses in milling forged aluminum alloys.
