VITAL, AN EUROPEAN R&D PROGRAM FOR GREENER AERO-ENGINES

VITAL is a four-year program funded by the EC focused on the low-pressure parts of the engine, evaluating new engine designs including counter-rotating fans, lightened fans and specific enabling technologies. Weight reduction will enable the development of high bypass ratio engines that reduce noise by 6dB, and CO2 by 7%.
