This paper outlines the high-lift design process and provides an overview of the future challenges and opportunities provided by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and high Reynolds number wind tunnel testing. Secondly, an overview is given of the aerodynamic activities within the HICON project (New HIgh-lift CONfigurations) investigating innovative high-lift components.
