The focus of this paper is the human factors evaluation of Next Generation Weather Radar (NGR) displays. A comparative evaluation of two NGR display modes (AUTO and MANUAL) with conventional weather radar is presented. The NGR display modes improve pilot weather awareness, operational decision-making and reduce pilot workload.
