Keywords: flapping wing aerodynamics, water tunnel experiment, three-degree-of-freedom
Studies were conducted on flapping wings in complex three-degree-of freedom motions. A five-component balance measured the aerodynamic forces at Re 6500-20000. Dye flow visualization was visualized. Results show that the lift was enhanced by the leading edge vortex. The coefficient could reach 2 and maintain within 2-3 convection time.
