A verification and validation case study is presented using the NASA X-15 flight vehicle. The paper explores a hierarchical approach in which benchmark solutions, laboratory measurements and flight test experiments are used to evaluate the IMPNS flow solver. The difficulties and challenges of a rigorous exercise are discussed in detail.
