The paper focuses on Active Trailing Edge (ATE) concepts. The Active Trailing Edge actuator is realized by a multi-morph bender including piezoelectric ceramics and glass fibre reinforced plastics. The actuation concept is analysed in detail and comparison to other concepts is accomplished where applicable. Relevant requirements and restrictions are discussed.
