A procedure for analytical solution of the 2D Euler equations is presented and applied to airfoils at subsonic and transonic conditions. The dependent variable incorporates a large portion of nonlinear effects (i.e., compressibility and entropy) so that low-order solutions yield remarkably accurate results into the transonic range (including shock).
