The paper describes the research effort at Cranfield University to ascertain the technical, economical, and environmental feasibility of distributed propulsion by comparing alternative concepts (including small gas turbine distributed propulsion, driven fan concepts, and electrical distributed propulsion) to future conventional aircraft baselines in terms of performance and operating costs.
