Evolutionary Algorithms are powerful optimization tools for the minimum weight design of composite aircraft structures. A drawback of probabilistic methods is the large number of evaluated designs. Newly developed methods reduce the computational effort considerably. The enhanced efficiency of these algorithms is shown by examples (fuselage panels etc.).
