Potential cirrus cloud modifications caused by aircraft black carbon (BC) soot emissions were studied with a global atmospheric model. The model results suggest that cloud modifications induced by aircraft BC particles could change the cirrus ice crystal number concentration at northern midlatitudes significantly.
