IMPACT OF INDIVIDUAL AND DYNAMIC WAKE VORTEX SEPARATIONS ON AIRPORT CAPACITY

Keywords: wake vortex, hazard area, wake vortex separations, dynamic wake vortex separations, single/ parallel runway

For many airports capacity is limited by minimum separation distances especially for approach/ landing due to possible hazards generated by wake vortices. In order to alleviate capacity restrictions, separation rules have to be improved without reducing safety. This could be achieved by accounting for individual aircraft pairings or atmospheric conditions.
