KOITER’S POSTBUCKLING ANALYSIS OF GENERAL SHELL STRUCTURES USING THE FINITE ELEMENT METHOD

We present a finite element implementation of Koiter’s perturbation method for the postbuckling analysis of thin-walled structures. Previous attempts relied on special element formulations or refinement techniques to overcome convergence problems. We show that an efficient implementation can be achieved with a standard shell element.
