The cooling demand in aircrafts has led to investigations of alternative cooling systems. A direct-evaporating CO2-based cooling system is one solution. Depending on the temperature of the heat sink, the use of CO2 leads to a transcritical or subcritical process. The presentation shows numerical results for different operating ranges.
