SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISATION OF NANO-AL2O3 REINFORCED AA6061

AA6061 powder and nano-sized Alumina powder were mechanical alloyed by means of a planetary ball mill, followed by hot isostatic pressing and hot extrusion. Investigations of the microstructure revealed uniform dispersion of the reinforcements. Mechanical properties have been determined in dependence of reinforcement size and reinforcement content.
