Kinetic effects in aerodynamics (non-monotonic lift of plates, strong repulsive force between side-by-side plates and cylinders, dependence of drag on torus radii ratio, and lift-reverse Magnus effect on a rotating cylinder) are studied by using the direct simulation Monte-Carlo technique for transitional flow regimes in air, argon, and carbon dioxide.
