A mission based methodology is presented assessing the efficiency of various transportation systems. The Five-Phases-Model highlights the major operational potentials of different transportations systems. The ´Transportation-Efficiency-Space´ criteria indicates the efficiency based on energy effort, time and cost. First results show the benefit of the methodology for operational and predesign analysis.
